This is all based on my own experience, plus perusal of the stats and movesets. Is someone in the wrong place? Probably! Again, there are a lot of pokemon, and I have not tried them all. I’d love to hear what y’all think! Did I forget a pokemon? Probably! There are a lot of them. Oh, and I didn’t include legendaries because A) a lot of people don’t allow them, and B) they’re legendaries, you don’t need me to tell you that they’re good. Mega evolutions aren’t ranked separately, but pokemon that are capable of mega evolving in the main story are given a boost in placement. I felt that both of these categories merited special mention beyond just placing them in “good” or wherever. I made special note of the pokemon that are good options to help late in the game (8th gym and beyond), and those that are great early teammates but will fall off late in the game. Other pokemon also appear on various routes via the DexNav, but I did not include those, since I’m assuming by that point your encounters on those routes will have been used. FG did a great one for Ruby & Sapphire, but things are a little different for ORAS, thanks to expanded pokemon availability, expanded movesets, and the physical/special split.Įverything here is for the main story, the postgame is not included.Īll the non-Hoenn natives you see here are from the Mirage spots that show up after defeating Kyogre/Groudon. Hey nuzlocke friends! After seeing a few other tier lists/viability rankings around the sub (popularized, I believe, by u/FlameGerbil), I decided to try my hand at one of my own. If it were me, I woulnd't bother raising it up, and if you're not looking things up, it's pretty much completely unusable unless you're reeeeally confident in your guessing abilities.īut your point is absolutely valid as well-it's gotta be nice to just have something that can get some high-profile, low-risk kills. And, as u/DragonFirePie pointed out, the grinding is a real pain, as you get it as a level 1 egg around the fourth gym. Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable using a pokemon that can only react and never proactively attack. But I can see the argument for using them, at least for a while (Dustox a bit more so).Īs for Wobbuffet, that's one of the toughest placements on any of these lists. Dustox is weak to two of the first four, and Beautifly is weak to three of the four. I thought about Beautifly and Dustox for Good Early, but the issue is they're so weak to the early gyms. I didn't want to put the latecomers in excellent, but just putting them in the decent category with no explanation seemed wrong too. You need Ho-oh or Lugia to catch these three. Thanks! Yeah, I just felt like those particular categories were worth calling out.
